FAQs

  • Sessions typically go about 45 minutes once a week. Some people report a noticeable reduction of their symptoms within the first 4-8 sessions and fully meet their goals anywhere from 12-20+ sessions. Continued appointments are sometimes appropriate to provide maintenance of new skills and change acquired, but we believe counseling should not be a “forever” process.

  • We are in network with several major insurances. Call us for a consult and we can help you answer that.

If we are not in network with your insurance provider, you may still have options to help offset the cost of therapy. We can provide you with a superbill, which is a special receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs to possibly process an out-of-network claim. Many clients are able to receive partial reimbursement after submitting a superbill to their insurance.

    How It Works

    1. Receive a superbill from us after each session.

    2. Submit it to your insurance company (many plans allow online submission).

    3. Your claim is processed according to your out-of-network benefits.

    4. If eligible, your insurance provider reimburses you directly.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Provider

    • Do I have out-of-network coverage for mental health services?

    • What percentage of the session cost will be reimbursed?

    • Is there a deductible I need to meet first?

    • How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?

Using your out-of-network benefits can be a flexible way to work with the therapist you choose while receiving some financial support from your insurance company.

Please note: Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your individual insurance plan, deductible, and benefits. Clients are responsible for payment at the time of service.

  • As part of a family counseling session, yes; individually, no. We believe parents play a critical role in the treatment of a child and one or both parents should always be present and participate in the family session with their child. The focus can be on the child and providing them with a safe place to process their fears, concerns, and struggles, but parental support and collaboration is crucial. We believe the primary goal is to strengthen the bond between child and parents and that starts in the therapeutic setting. Parents gain insight and awareness into the struggles and challenges of their child and are able to support and sustain change with their child long after the therapy ends. We have found that this is where lasting change can happen.
